Amber Jewell, LSCSW, is a foster care alumna, a current foster and adoptive parent, and a licensed clinical social worker. She is trained in TBRI and has more than 15 years of experience working with youth and families in child protective services, education, and mental health. She has seen firsthand what it takes to move from understanding a child's trauma to actually responding to it.
Tom Rawlings, J.D., brings more than 30 years of experience in juvenile justice and child protection, including service as a Georgia juvenile court judge and director of Georgia's Division of Family and Children Services. He is TBRI-trained, and his work on both sides of the child welfare system has shown him what happens when adults fail to recognize a child's trauma.
Debbie Ausburn, J.D., has more than 40 years of experience working with youth-serving organizations, and her most challenging and rewarding work has been as a foster parent and stepparent herself. She has never had biological children, but she has collected seven children and now have ten grandchildren. She knows firsthand that understanding a child's trauma and knowing what to do about it can be two very different things.
